The wider U3A
In addition to our affiliation to the national U3A, we have links closer to home.
The North Notts Neighbourhood Group
This comprises some half a dozen local U3As who provide mutual help and support. Our first joint event was a Picnic in the Park held at Rufford in June 2007. Last summer a celebration lunch was held in June at Portland College on the A60. The East Midlands Association of U3As
This group is unusual in being both an area and a region of the national U3A network. The EMA holds business meetings four times a year, also in Winthorpe. Through the EMA we have been provided with several day courses of help to group leaders, those needing presentation skills and so forth. The EMA is one link between our local U3A and the national body based at Bromley in Kent.
The EMA provides a series of summer schools each year, in addition to those organised round the country by U3A National. The East Midlands courses are based at Harlaxton Manor near Grantham and run for two separate weeks each year. |
